Holmfirth Film Festival is looking for the Disney, Pixel animation stars of the future.
In collaboration with professional animator, Doctor Simpo, and local company Red Ledge, the Festival has organised an exciting film animation competition for young people.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the band Pink Floyd, the Festival is looking for short 2 minute films on the theme of Psychedelia.
Dr Simpo said: “We want to see an explosion of colour. Vibrant splats of neon, fluorescent, abstract shapes, rhythms in all kinds of animation. Use your imagination for a mind-blowing short film.”
There are three age categories for young people from ages 5 to 20. The top winners from each category will be screened at the Picturedrome, Holmfirth, on 25 May 2017.
The best short films will receive cash prizes donated by Red Ledge.
The company, which provides state-of-the-art business solutions to companies around the world, has been a strong supporter of the Festival’s aim to engage young people in film-making.
When making your film the team recommends that you bear in mind the following key words:
The submitted film must be no longer than 2 mins.
There are 3 categories: Junior School (5 – 11 year olds)
High School (12 – 16 year olds)
College/University Level (17 +)
The top 5 films from each category will be played at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth as part of the annual Holmfirth Film Festival on Thursday, 25 May 2017, at 6.30pm.
The film can be a group/collaborative effort, however please make sure that all of the collaborators are the appropriate age for the submission category you are entering and credited for their roles. This is an amateur film making competition so please don’t enter if you are already a paid or established film maker.
