Dir. Tonino Valerii (Italy/Germany 1967, 109mins 15)
Written and directed by one-time Sergio Leone assistant Tonino Valerii, this is one of the very best spaghetti westerns. The great Lee van Cleef dominates and owns the film as the ruthless lone gunfighter in a series of bloody, but well-staged gunfights. Introduced by Lee Broughton of the University of Leeds as part of a season of post-US Civil War westerns supported by the Levenhulme Trust.
